Choosing a Cell Phone Family Plan

If you have a family, the difficulty in choosing a cell phone plan is compounded. Not only are you trying to pick the right plan for yourself, but you also have to take into account everyone else that will be sharing the plan. A cell phone family pan can save you a lot of money if you know the best way to choose one. You should consider the number of lines you need, the type of phone you (and your family) want, and what type of plan and features you need.

Decide how many lines you need. Some companies have a flat fee for additional lines and other charge differently depending on how many lines you have. You may be able to get a better deal if you get more lines so waiting a year to get your youngest child a phone may not be the most economical option. Once you have decided how many lines you need compare the prices fro adding that number of lines from each company.

The type of phones you want to get should be a consideration as well. Some plans require that all the phones you get are the same and others allow them to be different. You may get a discount if you pick the same phones for everyone but if relentless whining by your children (or spouse) because they didn’t get the phone they wanted isn’t worth it to you, you may want to consider the price differences for getting different phones for the whole family.

You should also decide how may minutes you family will need and how much messaging they will do. Pick a plan that allows the upper limit of what you think your family will use or else you will have an inflated bill every month someone uses more minutes or messages than they are allotted. Many plans come with unlimited texts and minutes and although cost more than plans with less, if your family talks and texts also you will be paying less that if you constantly get charged for overages.

Picking a family plan can be confusing so you should decide exactly what you need before you start you research. Each carrier has detailed information about their plans online and in their stores so compare each one before you choose your cell phone family plan. Knowing exactly what you want and getting information form each carrier will make your decision much easier.
